Providing new shoes to children in need

About Us

We are two sisters on a mission to make a difference in the lives of children.

One day, while sitting in a grocery store parking lot, Yvette saw a teenager walking out of the store with a backpack. He was quickly followed out of the store by two employees who pulled the backpack off of him - eggs, potatoes, and bread fell out of his bag. As the food fell to the ground her heart broke at the thought of him and other school aged children being hungry and in need.

For several days she prayed for that young man and also sought wisdom for an idea of how she and her sister could help other children in a similar situation, that is how The Sole Food Project was born.

We are working with schools to provide new shoes to children in need and food to families in crisis.

Would you like to join us on our mission?

How To Get Involved

For about four years, we have partnered with Life School - Oak Cliff to provide shoes and food resources for those who need them most.

We would like to expand our reach to other schools in DFW and eventually all of Texas.

In 2021 we added Hereford, Texas, our hometown, as one of our donation cities.

What we need from you are donations!

There are two ways to give:

  1. New Shoe Donations -

Drop off Monday - Friday at: 1818 E Sublett Arlington, TX 76018.

  2. Monetary Donations - (mail a check or give through our website)

These funds are used to purchase shoes for kids or to buy grocery store gift cards for families in crisis.

“Not only have we put shoes on kids feet, we’ve also put food on families tables.”

DeAnna Woods - School Counselor

“Kids are so happy and excited to walk back to class in their new shoes.”

Anita Sanders - Principal

“The kids are so excited and the parents have been grateful.  3 kids I fit today were a family.  The girls were like "these are tennis shoes." I am not sure they have ever had a pair of name brand tennis shoes.”
